Game Jam launched by The Sandbox, tapping on developers’ creative sides

Popular metaverse platform The Sandbox has announced the launch of its “Game Jam” in collaboration with Round21.

Essentially, users are required to create a sports-related experience using The Sandbox’s Game Maker software.

Whether it is based on a real sport — modern or past — or something straight out of your creative imagination […]The player can choose to participate or not in the sport. A game could be created where the players have to play against other teams in the same sport. It might also include a scenario where they need to manage an event or teach the history of a particular sport.

Participants have the chance to win up 20,000 SAND for submitting their ideas to the platform. The prize pool, which is 50,000 SAND in total, has been divided into 10 parts. The top creator will go home with 20,000 Sand. Second and third place will each receive 10,000 and 6,000 Sand, respectively. The 4th through 10th places will each receive 2000 SAND.

Today, December 24, was the start of Game Jam. It will continue until January 9, 2022. The voting will begin on the 10th January 2022. It will finish on 17 January. Results will be made public on January 22nd.

All entries should be made in Game Maker to be eligible. You must make the experience playable, and it should have a focus on sports. While it is okay to have some similarities, we won’t accept exact copies of any existing sports games.
