Microsoft joins Google, Amazon, others in canceling in-person presence at CES -Breaking

(Reuters) – Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ) announced Friday that it won’t be attending the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas (CES 2022) in Las Vegas. It joins a group of companies refusing to attend the next month’s show due to concern over Omicron COVID-19.
In an emailed statement, Microsoft stated that the U.S. software firm will still participate in CES remotely. According to The Verge, Microsoft won’t be physically present at CES.
Several other companies, including U.S. automaker General Motors Co. (NYSE:), Alphabet(NASDAQ:) Inc. and Waymo’s self-driving car-technology company Waymo (NASDAQ:) parent Meta Platforms Inc., are represented by Google (NASDAQ:) Twitter Inc (NYSE:), Lenovo Group (OTC:), AT&T Inc (NYSE:) and Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:) dropped in-person attendance plans earlier this week.
Officials at CES announced Thursday that the event would still take place Jan. 5-8 in person with strong safety precautions in place, including masking, vaccination requirements and COVID-19 testing.
