British minister says no new COVID curbs for England in 2021 -Breaking

LONDON, (Reuters) –The government of Britain will not implement new COVID-19 restrictions on England prior to the 2021 end, Sajid Javid, Britain’s health minister said Monday.

The government reported partial figures on Monday showing 98,515 cases of COVID-19. However, once the data from Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland are added, it’s likely that cases will be slightly lower than the Dec. 24 peak at 122,186.

Javid however stated that the ministers won’t be taking new measures to reduce the spread coronavirus within the coming days.

Reporters were told by Javid that there would be no more measures in the New Year. “Officially, when we are in the new year we will determine if any other measures are necessary.”

He stated that Omicron, the most transmissible variant of the virus, now accounts for about 90% of England’s cases and advised people to observe caution when celebrating New Year.

Omicron is the focus of government attention. Early data this week indicated that the variant had a decreased risk of admission.

Britain reported total deaths of 148 0003 within 28 days after a positive COVID-19 and 12.2 Million positives during the pandemic.

For Dec. 25, there were 113.628 cases and Dec. 26 had 108.893 cases.
