Alan Tibbetts made three distinct digital photos in Boston at Lightspeed Computers (NASDAQ:) Photoshop in 1985, several years before Adobe (NASDAQ;) Photoshop was released. Francis Olshafskie (entrepreneur and artist) founded the proprietary graphics software company to create images using cutting-edge technology. Alan used the software, along with photographs and other images from print media, to create art.

Only Andy Warhol was aware of this groundbreaking technology at the time of creating the digital images. The inspiration for Alan’s images was derived from popular happenings of the time and included hostage-taking terrorists, popular cigarette advertisements, and a famine in Ethiopia. Given the lack of digital painting or editing tools, the work was very primitive at the time. Also, borrowing time to use the computer was expensive.

Light Valve Technology provided storage facilities for the new medium. We used a film recorder and a camera to capture virtual information from direct negative slides. Each slide was then converted into one Cibachrome print by the local lab. Each of his three NFTs is made up of a high-resolution digital file of the photo together with Adobe Content Credentials, the original slide transparency, and the sole Cibachrome print measuring around 11×14”, signed, stamped, and stored in an archival container.

Three images from the NFT Series are called Bomb Pop and Escape to Continue. There have been only twelve bids for these three images, with just two more days.
