(Reuters) – Dan Reeves was a former NFL player and long-time head coach of the NFL, his family announced in a statement.

The statement stated that Reeves had died from complications of dementia. According to the statement, he was “surrounded at home by his loved family in Atlanta.”

Reeves was a Dallas Cowboys player for eight years. He was a running back and played in Super Bowls. This helped the Cowboys to win Super Bowl VI.

Reeves became the head coach of the Denver Broncos. Reeves was just 37 when he became the head coach of the Denver Broncos.

John Elway was a famous quarterback who the Broncos purchased in 1983. Reeves and Elway made three Super Bowl appearances together — after the 1986, 1987 and 1989 seasons — but lost all three games.

Reeves spent four seasons as a New York Giants player before being hired by Atlanta Falcons in 1997. Reeves was the Falcons’ leader until 2003 when he was dismissed mid-season.

Reeves’ second season as a member of the Atlanta Falcons in 1998 was one the greatest in their history. It posted a 14-2 record, and it won the first NFC championship.

Denver Broncos issued a statement saying, “Our hearts are with Dan’s wife Pam and his high school sweetheart Lee; his children Dana; Laura and Laura; and his grandchildren, great grandchildren; and to the whole Reeves Family.”

Arthur Blank, Atlanta Falcons chairman and owner, released a statement saying that Dan Reeves has left a lasting mark on the game of football as both a coach and player. His track record of success over many decades in Dallas, Denver and New York speaks for itself. It marks a successful and long career in football.
