Indian taxman recovers $6.62M from WazirX for evading tax on commission -Breaking

Indian crypto-exchange WazirX reportedly has paid $6.6million (49.2 million rupees) in Goods and Services Tax for nonpayment on trade commissions. Total recovery also includes $5.43million (40.5 crore rupees) pending tax, interest, and a penalty of non-payment.
Following the detection of $5.43m in GST evasion on the commissions, Central GST officials and Central Excise committee (CGST Mumbai Zone), recovered the bitcoin exchange funds. GST fraud can be described as creating false invoices and not moving goods between seller or buyer.
