(Reuters) – U.S. financial bank Jefferies Financial Group requested that staff work remotely up to January 31, according to Chief Executive Officer Richard Handler in an Instagram post.

In October, the bank called back its employees to their offices. However, due to an increase in COVID-19-related cases in December, it was forced to send staff home to resume work. The bank had also reinstated a mandate for masks in all its offices regardless of whether or not vaccinated.

Handler stated that the bank would not host any indoor events for groups or other functions and believes that only critical business travel should be allowed.

Wall Street banks that have aggressively brought back workers to their offices due to concerns regarding the Omicron version of the coronavirus are being forced to change their plans.

Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE: ) said that it encouraged eligible U.S. employees to work remotely until January 18.
