MOSCOW, (Reuters) – China, Russia. Britain, Americas, France, and Britain all agreed to prevent further proliferation of nuclear weapons, and a potential nuclear war, according to a Kremlin joint statement.

The five permanent members of United Nations Security Council, it was stated that they consider it to be their first responsibility to prevent war between nuclear-armed states and reduce strategic risk. They also aim to cooperate with other countries in order to foster an environment of security.

The Russian translation of the statement stated that “We declare there couldn’t be any winners in a nuke war and it shouldn’t be started.”

“As nuclear war would have devastating consequences, we confirm that they should be kept out of harm’s way.

France, too, released the statement. This speaks to the fact that five countries have reaffirmed their resolve for nuclear weapons control and disarmament. According to it, they will continue multilateral and bilateral approaches to nukes control.

This statement is made amid increasing geopolitical tensions among Moscow and Western countries over concern about Russia’s military buildup in Ukraine. Moscow asserts that it has the ability to relocate its army anywhere it sees fit.

The U.S. President Joe Biden spoke to Vladimir Putin last Thursday about a possible attack on Ukraine. This would result in sanctions being imposed as well as an increase of U.S. military presence in Europe. Tensions are high following Russia’s military buildup.
