(Reuters] – On Monday, a U.S. Judge ordered mediation for Purdue Pharma’s bankruptcy. The order required the Sackler family to mediate and nine other states to resolve whether they could reach a new opioid litigation settlement before January 14.
Robert Drain, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge, White Plains (New York) issued an order directing parties to discuss changes to a December deal that was rejected by another judge. This agreement provided protection for the Sacklers against any future opioid litigation. U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Shelley Chapman serves as mediator.
They will not be able to reach an agreement by that time and the litigation will go on.
