Google beefs up internet security with Siemplify buyout -Breaking

(Reuters) – Alphabet NASDAQ: Google Inc announced on Tuesday that it acquired Israeli cybersecurity startup Siemplify. This acquisition comes at a critical time for cyberattacks, data breaches and other security threats.

Google has seen its cloud revenue nearly double to $5 billion since the 2020 pandemic. This was as companies began to work remotely. With the need to defend and counter security threats increasing, large corporations are also investing in cybersecurity products.

Google stated that Siemplify’s platform would be integrated into the cloud. Although the financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed, Israel’s technology news site CTech claimed that the purchase was worth $500 million.

Google has not yet responded to a Reuters request.

Google’s Israeli buyout is the first deal with an Israeli firm. This also underpins Middle Eastern nation’s attempts to tackle cybersecurity issues.

Israel is home to NSO Group, a cyber-firm that makes the Pegasus hacking tools. It has also been criticised by several companies and governments for using information in inappropriate ways.
