(Reuters) – Warner Music Group’s publishing division has acquired the complete catalog of British singer David Bowie. It spans six decades. This includes hit songs like “Heroes” or “Let’s Dance.”

Bowie died at the age of 69. He was a pioneer in music, and was known for his innovative lyrics.

Warner Music and Bowie’s estate have reached an agreement that includes the songs of the 26 studio albums he released in his lifetime as well as “Toy”, a posthumous album.

Warner Music announced the agreement on Monday without disclosing the terms, though a person who is familiar with the matter estimated that it was about $250 million.

In September, Bowie’s estate signed an agreement that granted Warner Music worldwide rights to his catalog between 1968 and 2016.

Bowie shot to fame in Britain in 1969 with “Space Oddity,” whose words he said were inspired by watching Stanley Kubrick’s film “2001: A Space Odyssey” while stoned.

His 1972 role as a doomed bisexual rock ambassador from space in “Ziggy Stardust”, which he played, was what propelled him into global superstardom.

His catalog deal marks the latest development in media rights, which sees companies trying to raise royalties through the purchase of artist’s catalogs following the Pandemic that decimated physical income streams and deferred release of new recordings.

Warner Music is home to artists such as Cardi B and Ed Sheeran, while Madonna has partnered to relaunch her whole catalog in the coming years.

This deal was made days before Bowie’s 75th anniversary of his birth on Jan. 8.
