(Reuters] – BlackRock Inc. (NYSE:) American Express Co (NYSE 🙂 extends their hybrid work plans with the Omicron COVID-19 variation spreading across the United States.

BlackRock, the largest global asset manager, will provide flexibility for U.S. workers through Jan. 28. According to a source, they’ll allow them to work wherever and whenever it is most convenient.

Since its discovery on December 1, the new strain has quickly spread throughout the country, replacing Delta as the predominant strain. This has sparked a new wave infection that saw daily cases rise to the 1,000,000 mark by Monday.

BlackRock required its workers to be in the office at least three days per week since November, when more than half had been asked.

AmEx will delay Jan. 24’s launch of Amex Flex in the United States. AmEx had previously said it would begin returning employees to its offices in Germany, the UK and the United States starting January 24.

There are many Wall Street investment banks, such as Bank of America (NYSE) Citigroup Jefferies Financial Group and (NYSE:) have reversed efforts to bring staff back into the office due to concerns about the Omicron variant.
