WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – U.S. President Joe Biden will commemorate the 1 year anniversary of Jan. 6, 2001’s deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol. He will honor the courage of police officers and outline the work that remains to be done to improve the country’s democracy, according to the White House.

On Tuesday, Jen Psaki from the White House told reporters that “On Thursday the President is going to talk to the truth about what happened” and not to the lies spread by some since. This was the first glimpse of the remarks of the president.

Psaki stated that Biden would shine a spotlight on Capitol Police’s role and other participants on Jan. 6.

Psaki stated that “Because they made an effort, our democracy withstood a attack by a mob and the will to vote in the presidential election was eventually registered by Congress.”

Trump said that he’d hold a press conference later at Mar-a-Lago in Florida on the same day.
