Canada will boost supply of COVID-19 tests, PM Trudeau promises ‘better days ahead’ -Breaking

OTTAWA (Reuters), Canada will provide rapid COVID-19 testing to 10 of its provinces in case the Omicron coronavirus variant spreads rapidly. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Wednesday that Canada would increase the supply of these tests, promising brighter days ahead.

Many provincial governments have put restrictions in place for businesses and groups, following warnings from doctors that the healthcare system could become overwhelmed. There is a shortage in rapid testing, according to local authorities.

There is no miracle cure for this. Trudeau stated that none of us wants to be right now but that we all know how to get there.

“We will persevere through all of this. “There will be better days in the future,” he stated.

Jean-Yves Duclos, the Health Minister, said that Ottawa would deliver 140 million test results by January 31st, in addition to the 120 million currently distributed.

According to data from the CDC, as of December 18, only 87.3% (aged 12 or more) had received at least two vaccination doses. Only 1.3% were inoculated for children aged 5-12.
