Stryker To Acquire Vocera In $2.97 Billion Deal -Breaking

Investing.com — The shares of Vocera Communications Inc After a medical technology company, (NYSE:) rose Thursday Stryker Corporation (NYSE 🙂 announced that it has agreed to buy the digital platform business.
Stryker’s cash payment of $79.25 per share will represent an approximate $2.97 billion equity value.
Vocera is a leading platform for digital care coordination. It currently has close to 1,900 hospitals and provides a platform that allows healthcare workers to interact with each other as well as patients. Stryker emphasized the value of this segment in the context of the pandemic, as well its potential to decrease caregiver mental workload.
Vocera shares have risen 26.5% since the announcement. They closed the day at $62.52. Stryker stock has increased 0.7%.
“This acquisition underscores our commitment and focus on our customer,” stated Kevin Lobo, chair and CEO, Stryker. “Vocera will help Stryker significantly accelerate our digital aspirations to improve the lives of caregivers and patients.”
The deal has been approved by both boards and is anticipated to be finalized in the first quarter 2022.
Ryan Zimmerman, BTIG analyst said that Vocera’s deal was a natural fit and Stryker appears to be expanding beyond its MedTech focus.
