KFC to launch Beyond Meat fried ‘chicken’ across United States -Breaking

NEW YORK, (Reuters) -Yum Brands Inc will begin selling Beyond Meat (NASDAQ) Inc plant-based fried chicken at KFC restaurants across the United States starting Jan. 10, KFC announced on Tuesday.

After-market trading saw Beyond share prices rise by more than 7 percent. According to regulatory filings, KFC was Yum’s largest brand at nearly 4,000 locations in America by 2020.

KFC began testing Beyond’s plant-based chicken in Atlanta in August 2019. The test was expanded the next year to other areas.

Yum and Beyond, a partnership between Yum and Beyond, announced in February 2021 that they would collaborate to develop plant-based menu options for Yum’s KFC and Taco Bell over the “next several years.”

Many fast-food restaurants have sought partnerships with faux meat manufacturers to offer vegan and vegetarian options. Impossible Foods Inc has partnered with Burger King as a Unit of Restaurant Brands International (NYSE 🙂 Inc.

KFC’s Beyond Fried Chicken will be available at $6.99 most of the time, although prices may vary by region.
