Eastern U.S. faces possible ‘bomb cyclone’ of snow and wind -Breaking

LOS ANGELES, (Reuters) – The east United States from Tennessee to New York will experience stronger winds and more snow over the night, which could lead to the first bomb cyclone in 2022’s winter season, AccuWeather forecasts.

A bomb cyclone can be described as an extreme weather phenomenon in which barometric pressure falls rapidly, producing heavy precipitation and strong winds.

On Thursday night, heavy snows will be moving into Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina. In Tennessee, snows of up to 3 inches (7.5 cm), are possible in the capital. This is the second snowstorm within a week.

Accuweather stated that New York City may see as much as 6 inches (15.24 cm) of snow Friday. According to Accuweather, winter storm warnings have been issued for most of the Northeast coast. Heavy snowfall is expected up north, possibly as far as Maine, if the storm intensifies.

Bernie Rayno (AcuWeather Chief Video Meteorologist) stated that snow accumulations are greater in the north.

This week’s winter storm caused heavy snowfalls in the U.S. Southeast region and mid-Atlantic. Schools were forced to close and planes grounded.
