McDonald’s Japan slices fries to small size as it faces shipping snags -Breaking

TOKYO (Reuters] – Japanese McDonald’s customers will need to settle for a smaller portion of McDonald’s (NYSE) fries over the next month. The fast food chain stated that it is reducing portions to address shipping difficulties.

McDonald’s Holdings Company Japan announced Friday in a statement that it would not be possible to ship potatoes from North America due to the flood damage at Vancouver Port and other disruptions.

The global shipping industry continues to be affected by an assortment of factors such as COVID-19 Pandemic Lockdowns, severe weather, and rapid recovery of demand.

McDonald’s announced that it will sell S-sized fries starting Sunday. This is to ensure there’s enough inventory so customers have access to McDonald’s Fries without any interruptions.

Fast-food chain McDonald’s took the same steps for one week in December at approximately 2,900 Japanese branches.
