Daimler’s Mercedes-Benz sees 5% sales drop in 2021 -Breaking

BERLIN, (Reuters) – Mercedes-Benz lost its position as the premium carmaker selling the most BMW vehicles to Daimler (OTC), Friday.

Smart brand sold 38,514 additional vehicles while Mercedes-Benz Vans sold 334,210. This is a 2.5% rise over last year.

According to the company, sales of battery-electric cars soared by more than 90% to 99,000 vehicles.

At 11.2%, Europe saw the largest drop in passenger vehicle sales. This compares to just 0.4% growth in the United States and China.

BMW announced earlier this week that it has sold an unprecedented 2.2 million BMW vehicles in the past year.

The company will announce its annual sales figures next week.
