Musk posted a series on Twitter where he boasts 69.2million followers and wrote: “Tesla FSD Price Rising to $12k On Jan 17″. Not in the US. FSD will see a rise in price as we approach FSD production code publication.”
Musk answered a question from a follower about Tesla’s FSD subscription program. It currently costs $199 per monthly for most customers. Musk stated that the monthly subscription price would rise when FSD is widely released. Musk teased FSD Beta as an invitation-only program that offers advanced features for select Tesla drivers.
TeslaIt does not reveal in earnings reports how many customers subscribe to FSD every quarter or pay upfront for FSD. Therefore, it is not known how big a price rise in the U.S. would boost its margins.
Autopilot, the standard driver assistance package of the company, is included in every new vehicle (the Model S, Model X, and Model Y).
According to Tesla, Autopilot functionality can include forward collision warning and automatic emergency brakes. It also includes adaptive cruise control that matches your vehicle’s speed to the traffic around it. website.
Tesla’s Full-Self Driving option, also known as FSD, is a premium package that includes the Autopilot functions, and more sophisticated features like automatic lane-changing, stop light recognition, and “smart summon” which lets drivers call their car from a parking spot to come pick them up, using their smartphone and the Tesla app like a remote control. Although the name suggests, cars cannot drive themselves without driver intervention.
A separate FSD Beta Tier is available, with even more features.
Only drivers who purchase or subscribe to the FSD package, and receive high marks in a “safety score” from Tesla, can get access to FSD Beta. After they are in, drivers can access unfinished features such as “autosteer for city streets,” which Tesla claims will allow them to drive around urban streets and avoid all hazards.
California Department of Motor Vehicles, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration are investigatingThere are many aspects to Tesla’s FSD and tech development.
Tesla told the agencies its technology is only a level 2 system. According to the DMV, Level 2 systems can enhance safety and provide driver assistance. However, they are incapable of operating or driving the vehicle without active physical control or supervision of a person.
Musk however implied that Tesla’s technology was more advanced than the level 2 version. In an interview published on December 28, 2021, YouTuber Lex Fridman asked Musk, “When do you think Tesla will solve Level 4 FSD?” Musk responded, “It looks quite probable that it will be next year,” meaning 2022.
Tesla claims self-driving cars have been promised since 2016. However, Tesla has not yet demonstrated in the US the hands-free vehicle Elon Musk stated would be possible before 2017.
