Only two out of 170 people tested positive for coronavirus.
As authorities struggle to stop a fresh wave of cases, the officials were sent along with the 19 “patriots” members of Hong Kong’s newly created legislative council.
Lam claimed in a Friday late statement that she wanted “detailed investigations” into whether 13 of the officials present at the banquet were a violation of discipline.
“I have told all quarantine officials that they must cease performing their duties, and they will be required to use their vacation time for quarantine.”
On Monday was the party to celebrate the birthday of Witman Hong, a delegate from the city to the national assembly. This took place before any new restrictions were in force on social life, but Lam appealed for Hong Kongers to refrain from large crowds.
The three-month-long streak of transmission in the area was ended with confirmation that the Omicron variant had been transmitted to the local community.
Since the initial detection, several additional cases have been reported and hundreds of close friends have been placed in quarantine.
According to authorities, senior officials attended the meeting, including Home Affairs Secretary Casper Tsui and Director of Immigration Au Kawang. Raymond Siu, the police commissioner, and Simon Peh the head of city’s Independent Commission against Corruption.
Public apologies have been issued by all four of them and other victims.
Au was also fined last year after he attended a private dinner at a luxurious club that allowed more than four people.
Global financial hub remains one of the last to adhere to the goal to stop local transmission by isolating itself and strictly enforcing quarantines.
On Friday, the city banned restaurants from serving after 6 pm. It also closed all bars, clubs, beauty salons, swimming pools and other venues. Groups were limited to four persons.
