Southern European theme park resort to start accepting Bitcoin

Come 2022, the iconic PortAventura World entertainment resort will start accepting payments in .

This Spanish resort is widely known as the most luxurious in Southern Europe and houses six hotels. The resort hosts approximately five million visitors annually.

Red Force, Europe’s tallest and fastest rollercoaster, is one of its main attractions. The coaster can reach speeds up to 180 km/h.

PortAventura World currently plans to implement a software system that makes it easy and secure to conduct transactions. However, it is still unclear if payments will pass through the Lightning Network, Bitcoin’s popular scaling solution that has been attracted a lot of interest lately.

The promotion and adoption of Bitcoin has been a key part in efforts to promote digitization and innovation.

BTC PEERS also reported in August that the five-star Chedi Andermatt resort was to be the first Swiss hotel which will accept cryptocurrency payments. AMC Entertainment, a global cinema chain (NYSE:), also announced its intention to take payments in Bitcoins and other cryptocurrency by the end.
