REUTERS/Andrew Kelly(Reuters) –Lululemon Athletica Inc announced Monday that its holiday quarter results would be affected by the Omicron coronavirus variant. This virus has caused the yogawear maker to reduce staff hours and send its shares down 7% premarket.
Omicron further hurts the retail sector which already has been dealing with product shortages and shipping delays due to overburdened supply chains.
Calvin McDonald, Chief Executive Officer at Lululemon, stated that although we started the holiday season in a good position, the Omicron variant has had several adverse consequences. He said, “We have experienced many consequences including more capacity constraints and less staff availability. We also saw reduced hours in some locations.”
According to Vancouver’s Canadian-based firm, fourth quarter net revenue is now expected to fall below its original forecast of $2.13 to $2.17 trillion.
Additionally, it expects the fourth quarter adjusted profit per shares to be near the bottom end of its earlier outlook between $3.25 and $3.32.
