The Sandbox has land for sale at a price of over $10k

It’s no secret that the metaverse has suddenly become one of the hottest topics since late 2021. The most sought after possessions in virtual reality are land on metaverse platforms decentralized like The Sandbox, Decentraland. How much would you spend to buy a plot of virtual land in the midst of all this madness?

Fortune reports that the smallest land parcels on metaverse platforms Decentraland and The Sandbox cost around 3.7 ETH each. As of press time, the current trading price of The Sandbox is in the range of $3,000 to $36,000. This means that you will need at least $11,000 for a piece land.

Fortune stated that the 1×1 plot is the smallest piece of land available in virtual worlds. This is approximately 96 sq. m in The Sandbox, and 16 in Decentraland. This is a testimony to the metaverse boom. These tiny plots sold at a fraction (less than $1000) of Ether in March 2013.

Virtual land has become a “hot commodity,” with some parcels selling for hundreds of thousands and even millions of dollars. A plot of land in The Sandbox was bought for $4.3 million last September. In December, an NFT collector paid $450,000 to be the neighbor of Snoop Dogg (American rapper).

Speaking of the sector’s potential for growth, Andrew Kiguel, the CEO of crypto-asset investment firm Tokens.com, told USA Today that he expects his metaverse portfolio to increase by 10 times more than its purchase value.

It all comes down to the place. It all comes down to the value of the location. The higher the number of visitors, the greater the willingness for advertisers and retailers to invest to reach them.
