IMF names UC-Berkeley’s Gourinchas as next chief economist -Breaking

WASHINGTON (Reuters – Monday’s announcement by the International Monetary Fund stated that Pierre-Olivier Gourinchas from the University of California-Berkeley was appointed the Fund’s next chief economic officer. This replaces Gita Guppinath, who has joined the IMF management staff this month.

Gourinchas was an economist who started at UC-Berkeley back in 2003. Prior economic positions were held at Princeton University and Stanford University. Gourinchas transitioned to full-time Fund work starting January 24.
