TOKYO, Reuters – A quarter of Japanese households anticipate inflation will accelerate in the next year, a central bank quarterly survey revealed on Tuesday. This is up from 68.2% from the previous poll.

This survey was done between November 5th and December 1st, showing that 80.8% households expected prices to increase in five years. This compares to the September previous survey, which had a 78.1% response.

This survey will be among the data that Bank of Japan is likely to analyse next week at its policy meeting in order to determine whether public perceptions of price movements for future years have been affected by rising fuel and raw material costs.
