Investing.com — General Motors Company (NYSE:) announced Tuesday that it is launching CarBravo, an online used vehicle dealership.

It is anticipated that the site will be launched in spring. GM stated it would offer customers who own used vehicles access to “expansive territory”, an omnichannel shopping experience, and exclusive ownership privileges.”

Non-GM make and model vehicles will be included in the inventory, as well. CarBravo will allow GM to compete directly with other companies like Carvana Co (NYSE 🙂 and CarMax(NYSE :). Automakers have begun to enter the online marketplace because used cars make up a large portion of vehicle sales. Ford last year announced its launch of the used car marketplace.

“CarBravo will give customers more choice and access to shop significantly expanded inventories of both the dealer and a national central stock of GM used vehicles. Importantly, the program features will also be offered on non-GM used vehicles,” said Steve Carlisle, GM executive vice president and president of GM North America.

“CarBravo is designed to provide customers the convenience to shop how they want, where they want – online, at the dealership or both,” he added.

Tuesday saw GM share prices rise 0.3%
