(Reuters) – Walgreens Boots Alliance NASDAQ:) Inc began a strategic review its U.K.-based Boots operation, chief executive officer Rosalind Brewer stated on Tuesday. This is as the U.S.’s second-largest pharmacy chain tries again to focus its attention on U.S. health care.

According to Boots’s website, the company has more than 2200 locations in the UK. This includes pharmacies and beauty shops.

“This review fits in well with our new priorities and strategic direction. We are focusing more on U.S. Healthcare. The process is still in an exploratory phase, but we expect it to move rapidly,” Brewer stated at the J.P Morgan Healthcare Conference.

The company formed after the purchase of Alliance Boots stake by Walgreens. This review occurs at a point when it is expanding beyond its drugstores to include investments in VillageMD as well as two other smaller healthcare providers CareCentrix & VillageMD.

Walgreens launched Walgreens Health late last year to offer primary and pharmacy care in-store, at home or through a doctor’s appointment. Also, Walgreens can be accessed via a mobile app.

Due to higher footfalls, Boots UK’s comparable pharmacy sales grew 8.8% during the November quarter.
