(Reuters) – California’s Full Self-Driving program (NASDAQ:) Inc is being reexamined by Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:) The Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday that California’s motor vehicle department will be reviewing Tesla’s software to see if it should come under autonomous vehicle regulations.

FSD (for driver assistance) is an enhanced system for driving that performs some tasks but Tesla does not claim it makes vehicles fully autonomous. According to Tesla’s website, these features “require an attentive driver.”

According to the Los Angeles Times, California’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), informed Tesla of the review by the state regulator last week.

According to the DMV report, “Recent software upgrades, videos that show dangerous use of this technology, ongoing investigations by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and other experts in the space prompted us to reevaluate.”

Reuters reached out to Tesla and the DMV for clarification but they did not respond immediately.

Video posts by beta-users show that Tesla vehicles equipped with the latest 10.3 FSD Software repeatedly gave forward collision warnings in October 2013. Tesla was able to fix the problem within one day.
