Volkswagen sees 8.1% sales drop in 2021 to just under 4.9 million vehicles -Breaking

(Reuters: Volkswagen (DE ) cars deliveries decreased 8.1% to less than 4.9 million in 2021 due to severe supply chain disruptions. This was according to Volkswagen, which said Wednesday it anticipated that the situation would remain volatile through the second half.

According to the automaker, deliveries of fully-electric and hybrid vehicles increased by 73% over 2020 to 369,000, representing 7.5% global delivery.

Klaus Zellmer, sales and marketing chief at Volkswagen, stated that Volkswagen achieved a satisfactory sales result despite the unusually difficult circumstances. However, it was not possible to fully offset the enormous effects of chip production.”
