BERLIN (Reuters: Alphabet’s Google offered to take News Showcase content out of general search results to stop a competition investigation into how the product selected news. This was according to the Federal Cartel Office in Germany on Wednesday.

Now, The Cartel Office is going to consult the affected news publishers in order to determine whether Google’s proposal will be successful.

The Cartel Office, which announced June its intent to investigate Google’s Showcase products under new regulations for internet companies, had previously made the announcement.
