Mexico president urges Mexican investors to bid for Citi assets -Breaking

MEXICO CITY, (Reuters) – Mexican President Andres Manuel Obrador stated on Thursday that he welcomes Mexican bidders in the U.S. bank sale. Citigroup (NYSE:) Mexico’s consumer banking operations, noting that it might be beneficial for Mexico to “mexicanize” the assets.

Lopez Obrador spoke in video and stated that Ricardo Salinas (Mexican tycoon) expressed interest in the assets. Lopez Obrador also said other prominent businessmen such as Carlos Slim could be interested in bidding.
