Investing.com – U.S. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

The index dropped 1.42% and the index decreased 2.51% at the close of NYSE.

These were the best performers of the session Boeing Co (NYSE:) traded at 223.90 after the close, up 2.97%. That’s 6.45 points. Meanwhile, Caterpillar Inc (NYSE;) increased 2.07% or 4.60 point to finish at 227.00. Walmart Inc was up 1.42%, 2.03 points to 145.47 during late trade.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ.) was the worst performer of the session, falling 4.23% or 13.47 point to close at 304.80. Salesforce.com Inc. (NYSE:), declined 3.87%, or 9.20 point to close at 228,63. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:) fell 1.90%, or 3.34 to 172.19.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Biogen Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 5.03% to 236.67, Kroger Company (NYSE:) which was up 4.96% to settle at 49.48 and American Airlines Group (NASDAQ:), which closed at 19.34 after gaining 4.54%.

ServiceNow Inc. (NYSE:), down 9.31% at 520.00 in late trading, Lumen Technologies Inc. (NYSE:), down 7.67% at 12.27, Bio-Techne Corps (NASDAQ:), down 7.16% and 397.68 by the close.

Singularity Future Technology Ltd. rose 25.88% (NASDAQ 🙂 to 5.010 and Medavail Holdings Inc. (24.41%) to settle at 1.58. Vinco Ventures Inc. was second at 22.57% (NASDAQ :).

Vyne Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ:), which fell 21.45% to 0.7785 in late trading, was the worst performer. Kymera Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ) which fell 15.90% to reach 42.68 Kidpik Corp (NASDAQ 🙂 was at its lowest point of 15.62%, falling to 6.16 at close.

On the New York Stock Exchange, falling stocks outnumbered those that advanced by 1785-1469, and 120 ended unchanged.

Kroger Company’s shares rose to new highs, rising 4.96% (or 2.34 to 49.48). Vyne Therapeutics Inc. shares (NASDAQ) dropped to their lowest levels, falling 21.45% (0.214 to 0.785).

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 15.27% to 20.31.

The February delivery of Gold Futures was lower by 0.28%, or 5.20, to $1822.10 per troy ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which fell 1.7% or 0.97 to reach $81.67/barrel, and March Brent oil, which fell 0.07 or 0.08% to trade at $94.09/barrel.

EUR/USD gained 0.03% at 1.1457 and USD/JPY by 0.03% at 114.20.

At 94.850, the US Dollar Index Futures fell 0.05%.
