LONDON, (Reuters) – After a string of scandalous revelations about staff partying while people struggled with COVID-19 lockdowns and other issues, Boris Johnson, British Prime Minister of the United Kingdom must transform Downing Street’s culture. Foreign Secretary Liz Truss stated Wednesday.

Johnson was the 2019 Conservative Party’s largest majority winner. An official investigation is being conducted into allegations that Johnson hosted multiple Downing Street parties during lockdowns.

It was unclear when Sue Gray, Cabinet Office official, would publish the findings of her investigation. This is especially true since police opened their own investigation.

Truss is being considered as the future prime minister in the event of Johnson’s fall. He said that Downing Street hadn’t yet received the Gray report findings, but it would soon.

Truss stated that some reports about Johnson and his employees were alarming.

Truss said to BBC, “There clearly needs be a change of culture.” “We must get the reports, and we should look at those results to fix any issues.”

When Truss was asked if she has leadership ambitions, Truss replied that Johnson (57), had done an outstanding job in her role as Prime Minister, responding to the COVID pandemic and delivering Brexit. Truss assured Johnson that she is 100% her support.

Johnson offered a range of explanations regarding the party: First, he stated that no rules were broken. Then, he apologized to British citizens for their apparent hypocrisy at such gatherings.

According to him, the allegation that he was warned about a “bring you own booze” lockdown event on May 20, 2020 which was supposed to be a work-related event was false.

ITV (LON) On Monday, Johnson reported that he and Carrie attended a surprise party with up to 30 guests for their birthday at the Cabinet Room at Downing Street. This was in June 2020 when indoor parties were forbidden.

54 Conservative MPs must send letters of confidence to their party’s chairman, the 1922 Committee. This will trigger a leadership contest.
