Google’s global head of gaming and virtual reality at YouTube leaves to be CEO of Polygon StudiosRyan Wyatt has resigned as the chief of YouTube Gaming. After his tenure as Vice President of Programming at Major League Gaming, he had been recruited to Google (NASDAQ) by Polygon Technology.
Indeed, Wyatt is doubtlessly a prominent figure in the gaming industry: holder of Shorty award, co-author of New York Times best-seller “OpTic Gaming: The Making of eSports Champions,” and was listed in the “Forbes 30 Under 30,” and “Fortune’s 40 under 40” lists.
Wyatt made the following remarks in a farewell message:
“I will miss YouTube dearly, but it is time for me to pursue other endeavours in life and where my passions are taking me”
I will be heading the Polygon Studios Organization across Gaming, Entertainment, Fashion, News, Sports, among other things. I’m excited to work with developers and builders across the Polygon ecosystem and I’ll be sharing more about my journey over the coming months”
“I am fascinated by blockchain app development and am beyond thrilled to enter the web3 space.”
It’s bittersweet to tell you that I will be leaving @YouTube. It is now time to move on. I’ve loved every moment of this time, and it was a great place. This is my happy announcement: I’ll be joining Polygon Studios ($MATIC) and will become their CEO. We are grateful for all the wonderful memories. pic.twitter.com/VhQxpqDbFO

Polygon (MATIC), the biggest adjustment of its kind among all 20 top cryptos, was able to recover by nearly 10% after the announcement.
One thing that seems unusual about the timing is that Wyatt announced his departure on the same day that the YouTube’s CEO, Susan Wojcicki, revealed that the company was looking into crypto and NFTs.
