U.S. Senate panel set to vote on FCC, FTC auto safety nominee on Feb 2 -Breaking

WASHINGTON (Reuters] – According to a notice by Reuters, the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee plans to vote on Feb. 2, on nominations for head of the Auto Safety Agency and a seat open on the Federal Communications Commission.

More than 12 nominations will be considered by the panel, including Steven Cliff for head of National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The agency hasn’t had a Senate-confirmed leader in January 2017.

The FCC nomination of Gigi Son is scheduled for a vote in the same committee. It would allow Democrats to control the FCC which currently is divided 2-2 if she was confirmed by the Senate. According to the notice, it was possible for nominees not yet voted upon to change.
