NEW DELHI, Reuters – India’s Tata Group completed a $2.4 billion agreement to retake ownership of Air India after almost 70 years.

In October, the auto-tosteel conglomerate won the bid for Air India. This was a win for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government which has for many years been struggling to privatise this financially distressed airline.

N Chandrasekaran (Tata Sons Chairman) stated in a statement that “We are thrilled to have Air India return in the Tata Group”
