REUTERS/Thomas PeterBRUSSELS (Reuters), – The Euro zone economy sentiment deteriorated on Friday. This was attributed to a less positive sentiment in key industry sectors and services.
From a December revised 113.8, the monthly European Commission economic sentiment index dropped to 112.7 in January. Reuters polled economists expecting a reading between 114.5 and 112.7 points.
This was due to less optimism in the industry where the index fell to 13.9 from 14.6. In services it dropped to 9.1 from 10.9.
Industry selling price expectations also fell to 47.7 in December from 48.0 in December. However, inflation expectations among consumers for the 12 months ahead rose from 36.6 to 38.4 in December to 38.4.
