© Reuters. Caterpillar Earnings, Revenue Beat in Q4Investing.com – Caterpillar (NYSE:) Friday’s fourth quarter report showed revenue exceeding expectations and beating analysts’ predictions.
Caterpillar posted earnings per share (EPS) of $2.69 for $13.8B in revenue. Investing.com polled analyst to predict EPS of $2.27 based on $13.17B in revenue.
Caterpillar shares have risen 2% since the start of the year but are still 13.99% below its 52-week high of $246.69, which was set on June 4, 2021. They are outperforming the S&P Global 100 which is down 5.94% from the start of the year.
Caterpillar is following other industrials major earnings this month
Caterpillar’s earnings beat was achieved by Union Pacific, who on January 20 reported EPS at $2.66 per share on revenue $5.73B. This compares to the forecasts of EPS at $2.61 for revenue $5.6B.
Raytheon Technologies beat all expectations Tuesday, posting fourth quarter earnings per share of $1.08 on $17.04B in revenue. This compares to the $1.02 forecasted for revenue of $17.28B.
