Colgate-Palmolive reported Friday that the fourth quarter beat forecasts by analysts and that revenue was lower than expected.

Colgate-Palmolive posted earnings per share $0.79 on $4.4B revenue. Investing.com polled analysts and predicted EPS at $0.7868 for revenue of $4.42B.

Colgate Palmolive shares rose 15% over the first of the year but are down 3.40% from January 6’s 52-week high of $85.61. They outperform the Dow Jones, which has fallen 5.99% over the same period.

Colgate-Palmolive is following other Consumer Staples industry earnings this month

Colgate-Palmolive’s report follows an earnings beat by Procter&Gamble on January 19, who reported EPS of $1.66 on revenue of $20.95B, compared to forecasts EPS of $1.65 on revenue of $20.33B.

Estee Lauder exceeded expectations in the first quarter of 2021, with EPS figures of $1.89 based on revenues of $4.39B. This compares to $1.7 based on revenue forecasts of $4.25B.
