Nine dead, including children, after a six-car crash in Las Vegas -Breaking

(Reuters) – Six people were hurt and nine died in a crash involving six cars on Saturday. The accident occurred when a Dodge Challenger, traveling at a high speed and running through a red light collided with several vehicles at an intersection.
Police said that the Dodge Challenger driver was also among those who died in Saturday’s crash.
According to police, those who were killed ranged in age from young children to adults of middle age. The two victims were both taken to hospital, one of them later dying and the other in critical condition.
U.S. Transportation Department released Thursday a strategy that it calls a “crisis” to decrease the number of deaths from traffic accidents on American roads.
The USDOT reported that deaths rose 18.4% between the previous year and October 2021. This is the highest number of fatalities on U.S. roads in six years. It also marks the longest six-month rise in Fatality Analysis Reporting System history (which has been used since 1975).
Officer Alexander Cuevas, North Las Vegas Police Department stated that he requested the public to make this community safer by slowing down and paying more attention to speed limits.
“Please do NOT drive distracted,” he said.
Investigating the incident is ongoing.
