(Reuters) – Spotify Technology After being criticized by rock and folk stars for misinformation regarding COVID-19 vaccinations, SA’s Chief Executive Officer Daniel Ek stated that any episode of a podcast featuring discussion on the topic will include a “content advisor”.

Ek published a blog posting Sunday stating, “This new effort against misinformation will rollout to countries around the globe in the coming days,” This content advisory, which is the first to be published by any major podcast platform, “is our knowledge.”

Prince Harry of Britain and Meghan, his wife, also voiced concern about Spotify’s COVID-19 misinformation and committed to working with Spotify.

This advisory will point listeners to the COVID-19 hub, which contains information and facts from health and medical experts as well as trusted links.

After Joni Mitchell, a singer and songwriter, made the announcement that Spotify would not play their music due to misinformation regarding COVID-19 vaccines.

Young opposed Young’s music being featured on the same platform that Joe Rogan’s popular podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience.” Rogan is a well-known vaccine skeptic who has caused controversy by his opinions on vaccines, the government mandates, and the pandemic.

A letter was signed by 270 medical and scientific professionals urging Spotify not to ignore Rogan earlier this month. Rogan is accused of spreading lies on the podcast.

Brene, the best-selling author who hosts Spotify-exclusive podcasts Unlocking Us (and Dare to Lead), tweeted on Saturday that she will “not be releasing any Podcasts until further notice”.

Brown couldn’t be reached immediately for comment.

Ek reported that Spotify also publishes platform rules for creators.

His words were: “We are aware that we play a crucial role in supporting creator expression and balancing it against the safety of users,” he said. “In that role, it is important to me that we don’t take on the position of being content censor while also making sure that there are rules in place and consequences for those who violate them.”
