Augmented Reality DApp Switches Networks From Ethereum to Polygon- OVR started the first stage of its migration to Polygon.
- The decision to migrate was made after OVR had problems with Ethereum’s scalability.
- In February, the second stage of migration begins.
OVR started the first stage of the migration from Ethereum to Polygon. OVR has moved Merkle Proof, minting and other functions from the old network to the new one. Users can mint their OVRLand NFs using Polygon now for just a few pennies
OVR also added Polygon network payment options to the primary market, along with Ethereum and BSC payments. This has resulted in lower transaction prices.
The secondary market will remain unaltered until the migration’s completion.
OVR made its decision– according to their blog– to switch to Polygon based on the following: Transaction costs, decentralization trade-offs and project vision, current adoption, vicinity to the Ethereum ecosystem, and finally EVM compatibility.
Polygon provides the scale OVR needs to enable NFT transfer and minting at a price that is affordable for transactions of average size. Most importantly, Polygon’s vicinity to Ethereum dramatically reduces the risk of OVR falling into a ‘ghost chain’.
The migration’s second phase will take place in February. OVR will begin minting OVRLands saved as Merkle Proofs on the Ethereum network to their owners’ wallets on Polygon. There are more than 24k wallets that currently own over 700k OVRLands. This will result in fully decentralized ownership of OVRLands, as well as widespread public scrutiny of minted lands and the owners’ community. The light minting function of OVRLands purchased will cease as all OVRLands bought will be directly minted using Polygon NFTs.
This announcement follows OVR’s OVR announcement about being able swap OVR tokens for the Polygon V3 implementation. The official Polygon Bridge was available to allow users to transfer ERC-20 OVR tokens between the Ethereum network and Polyon. The bridge will automatically recognize the OVR tokens in users’ Ethereum wallets and will perform the bridging. Connecting users’ wallets to DApp is all that is required.
OVR had previously announced app upgrades that included additional features. OVRLive was updated with a brand new interface. It also features custom animation avatars, group chats, preview and support 3D assets, as well as group chats. Users now have the ability to add and display new friends from Live Events.
OVR spoke to CoinQuora about its passion for improving the user experience. OVR boasts 700k+ OVRLands, and has integrated numerous NFT projects into the metaverse.
