Cox Automotive launches Mobility unit aimed at carmakers, dealers, fleets -Breaking

(Reuters) – Cox Automotive in Atlanta, a division of Cox Enterprises privately owned, launched a new Mobility unit to offer commercial services to car manufacturers, fleet operators and dealers, according to the company on Monday.

Cox Automotive Mobility will offer data, insights and technical expertise in four areas — fleet services, fleet operations, EV battery solutions and emerging ventures.

Cox Automotive’s Mobility division will draw on the capabilities of two companies it acquired in 2021: FleetMaster Inc in Ghent (Belgium) and Spiers News Technologicals, Oklahoma City.

FleetMaster’s fleet management software is aimed at dealers and mobility operators, and addresses emerging business models such as vehicle subscriptions and short-term rentals.

Spiers New Technologies provides assistance to manufacturers in the management of advanced battery technology, such as repair, refurbishment, and reuse. Cox and Spaiers developed an electronic health assessment tool that can assess the battery’s condition.

The Mobility unit will be initially operational in North America and Europe, but the plan is to expand.
