Storm packing heavy ice, snow bears down on central U.S -Breaking

(Reuters) – A severe winter storm is forecast to hit the United States’ central region on Tuesday. It will bring heavy snowfall, freezing rain, and ice.

It is expected to snowfall six to twelve inches over parts of the central Plains and southern Rockies, and possibly into the Midwest.

According to NWS National Prediction Center forecasts, there will be a “corridorof heavy ice” that runs from Texas down to Ohio River Valley.

According to the weather agency, Winter Storm Watches are and will continue to be in force for many of the areas that could be affected by snow and ice.

Arctic high pressure, expected to fall over the Plains this Wednesday, could cause extreme cold in certain areas. Temperatures will plummet down to 15-25 degrees Fahrenheit (-9.4 & -3.8 Celsius), the NWS stated.

After a severe winter storm that ravaged the Northeastern United States, the storm is now threatening the center. It has dropped more than 2 feet (60 cm), snow in certain areas, and brought high winds. This caused thousands to cancel flights, as well as limiting access to roads in some parts of the United States.
