LONDON, Reuters – The British government will present its plans to “level up” their country Wednesday. It is trying to get past the Downing Street scandal that saw lockdown parties.

The company said that 12 missions had been identified to help shift resources and focus to Britain’s forgotten communities by 2030. This included what they called the largest shift in power since London was taken over by local leaders.

The government also stated other goals include improving local transport to London standards, increasing 5G/fiber broadband coverage across the country, as well as working to eradicate illiteracy, innumeracy, and illiteracy from primary school students.

Prime Minister Johnson stated in a statement that “From the beginning, the defining mission for this government was to level up the country, to break down the link between destiny and geography so that everyone, no matter where they live, has access to the same opportunities.”

In 2019, he adopted the slogan “Levelling Up” as a shorthand to address regional inequalities between ex-industrial areas, London, and the southeast.

Opponents of the initiative claim it is populist and lacking substance.

Johnson will outline the policy in an effort to strengthen his premiership following damaging revelations about parties at Number 10 Downing Street’s office.

On Monday, a report by the party leaders pointed out “serious failings in leadership” within the British government.
