Satellite internet tier at $500 per month

SpaceX quietly launched a more powerful, “premium” version of Starlink’s satellite internet service. It is targeted at enterprise and business customers.

Starlink Premium, the new service, was posted to their website on Tuesday night. It is five times more expensive than the standard consumer service. Starlink Premium has a 500 deposit that can be refunded, $2,500 for an antenna and router and $500 per month.

SpaceX stated that Starlink Premium offers more than twice the capacity of Starlink’s antennas, and delivers faster internet speeds for high-demand users including businesses.

Starlink claims that the premium delivery will start in the second quarter.

Starlink Premium also offers flexibility in terms of service location. SpaceX claims that Starlink Premium can connect from any location, unlike the standard product which guarantees service only at one address.

SpaceX stated that you can order as many Starlinks and control all your service locations from one account.

According to Starlink Premium, users of Starlink Premium can download 150 to 500 megabits per sec, and latency between 20 to 40 milliseconds. This is a significant improvement over the normal service’s download speeds, which advertise speeds of 100 to 200 megabits each second. It also has a smaller latency.

SpaceX also stated that the Premium satellite antenna was “designed for enhanced performance in extreme weather situations,” but the website did not provide any details. Starlink products come standard with a Snow Melt technology, which heats to melt snow and/or ice.

SpaceX keeps promoting Starlink, a service that allows unlimited use of its services. It also states that “at the moment there are not data caps.”

Standard products of the company has more than 145,000 users in 25 countries around the world as of JanuaryNearly 1,900 satellites are in orbit.
