CHICAGO, (Reuters) – A huge winter storm ravaged the United States on Wednesday. It brought heavy snowfall, freezing rain, and strong winds that could make traveling difficult and even impossible for many Americans.

According to the National Weather Service, winter warnings and watches for the entire United States were in effect from Texas and Colorado through the Midwest up to Northern New York.

The NWS stated that snow could fall to large parts of the north of the area, while the NWS warned that snowfalls may be as high as 1 foot (30cm) in the south. This will quickly deteriorate travel conditions for Wednesday. Forecasters also predicted winds gusting up to 40 miles per hour (64 km).

You should expect power cuts and damage to trees from the ice. It could make travel impossible. In its advisory to Memphis, the service stated that hazardous conditions could affect the morning commute or evening commute.

CNN reports that more than 100 million people have winter weather warnings, ranging from New England to the Rockies.

According to Flightaware.com, approximately 2,400 flight cancellations were reported in America on Wednesday morning. According to Flightaware.com, more than 400 flights were cancelled between Chicago’s two main airports. Snow was forecast in some parts of Chicago.

Numerous school districts throughout the region had to cancel classes because of the storm.

The NWS said that extreme cold caused by Arctic highpressure, which is expected to fall over the Plains Wednesday, will cause temperatures to plummet 15-25 degrees below the average in certain areas.

After a severe winter storm ravaged the Northeastern United States, the storm threatens to envelop the region. It dropped more than 2ft (60cm) of snow in certain areas. High winds also caused thousands of cancellations of flights and restricted access to roads.
