WASHINGTON (Reuters), – Wednesday’s request by the White House, Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. According to letters seen by Reuters, USPS has asked the White House and Environmental Protection Agency to reconsider their plans to acquire a fleet of primarily gas-powered delivery vans. The new purchase would cost more than $1 billion.

On Wednesday, the Environmental Protection Agency wrote to the Postal Service requesting that it hold a hearing regarding its contract with Oshkosh Corp (NYSE:) Corp. The deal could have a value of $6 billion to create 165,000 new-generation delivery vehicles.

The USPS didn’t immediately respond to our request for comment.
