LONDON (Reuters – Britain’s Queen Elizabeth opened the celebrations to mark the 70th anniversary since her accession. She invited local communities to visit her Sandringham home in the east.

Sunday’s celebration of the queen’s platinum jubilee will be a landmark for British monarchs.

Elizabeth (95), became Queen of Britain, and more than 12 other realms, on February 6, 1952. She was on an international trip to Kenya when her father, King George VI, died.

Buckingham Palace stated that Angela Wood was one of her Sandringham guests. She studied cookery in 1953 and helped create Coronation Chicken. This curry- and mayonnaise-based dish was created to commemorate Elizabeth’s reign. It is still loved today.

A local resident also baked a cake for the queen, while a band performed “Congratulations.”

It is ironic that Elizabeth wasn’t destined to become monarch at her birth. She became queen because Edward VIII, her uncle, abdicated in order to marry Wallis Simpson.

However, Victoria was overtaken by her in 2015. This is a title that can be traced back at Norman King William I’s 1066 conquer of England.
